Downtown Sidewalk/Lighting/Signal Project - Current Status: Pending Federal Highway Authorization

2025-07-28 - Leeds TAP – The supplemental agreement has been signed by all parties, all certificates have been sent to ALDOT and Jeff will be following up today just to make sure there is nothing else needed to request authorization. 

2025-08-07 - I spoke with Keith Strickland. He indicates that Federal Authorization should be received within the next four weeks. Based on input from downtown stakeholders, the city has asked that construction be held until after January 1, 2026, as opposed to beginning in November 2025. BW

Highway 78 / Parkway Dr. - Capacity Project - Current Status: Right of Way Acquisition

2025-07-28 - Engineers Report GMC: US-78 – We have completed all PS&E comments and submitted all ROW documents to ALDOT.  We had previously sent in the utility submittal as well.  ROW acquisition is underway.  Once ROW is acquired, a re-evaluation of the environmental document will be needed for UT authorization.  Letting is currently scheduled for January 2026, but can be moved up if ROW and utilities are completed and funds are available.

Millie Street Current Status: Work scheduled to begin 7-10 days from 2025-08-05.

2025-07-28 - Engineers Report - Hager - Please find enclosed the Plans for Millie Street Roadway. I am trying to meet with the contractor later this week to finalize the budget with Annual Asphalt Bids; I will also confirm when they can start.
